camping

so M, H, and I braved the Big Cottonwood canyon for a little mingle, meet/greet, with the FAB faculty at SOJO (nickname for south jordan middle school). Anyway, M has found a great school with great teachers and administration. We had dutch oven, walked H around whilst he cried almost the entire time - I think he hates camping - , and sat and talked around the camp fire. We all went to bed at 10:04 PM. Everyone but me, that is. I packed us, please note that I have been camping one other time in my life and I remember it being completely miserable. I don't really know what to bring, but was ready for an adventure. So I have been so excited about this all week, shopping, packing, ect. I very much so UNDERESTIMATED the very cold temperatures, thus only packing a few quilts and some lame sleeping bag inserts. I get all cuddled in, kind of warm from moving around. Thinking, ah this is nice. 10 minutes later I am freezing, shivering, can't get warm. We tried everything, sharing twin bed blow up, cuddling, moving around ALOT, nothing worked. M feel asleep, but so kindly said "we will go and pack up when you say the word." I can't sleep, and I keep thinking that H is freezing and going to get frost bite, and that it only is going to get colder. I get up. Pants on. Start packing the car 1:30 AM. Please also note that the tent was thankfully borrowed from Ms sister and it is quite large - 3 room tent. Perfect for M, H, and me, all our luggage, Hs crib and big stroller, two twin blow ups, ect. It was a little awkward getting it down and sort of packed into the car without waking all the other campers. So we get everything packed into the car -all whilst enjoying the amazing moonlight and cautiously looking around for bears. We leave camp about 2:15 AM. I pull out saying "I bet you are never taking me camping again" and M was so nice and didn't complain and said "hey, we look out for each other, its ok."

Awwww... sweet ending to a sad story. It's always nice to know that you're being looked after. I know what you mean about freezing while camping. I froze my A off at girl's camp- I slept in all my clothes and a hot water bottle and still froze.

4 days!

Oh my gosh I'm laughing so hard right now and only wishing i could hear this story in person from you. You seriously crack me up and I've totally been there, many nights trying to lay on top of Casey for warmth...no I don't mean that. I also get up constantly to check Savannah and make sure she's not frozen, but that is the funniest story ever!!!! I'm still laughing...
