Here are some pictures from our Iceland trip. I will add more later, McKay went fishing and I am sure he would like to show off his angling skills. This was actually in the middle of our trip, but I wanted to put a picture with the whole family in first. So this is who went: Kristy, Mike, Boas, Jason, Me, Mckay, Nord, Wren, Whitney, and Karen. This was taken at the marina type area in the Westman Islands. We flew from Reykjavik over for a day tour. About a 20 minute flight. This was where Karen's ancestors are from.
McKay and I in front of the ever so fabulous Mall of America. We stopped over in Minneapolis/St. Paul to fly directly to Iceland. We went to the mall before and after the Iceland getaway.
Our second day we went on a tour of Reykjavik, the capitol city and where we stayed the whole time. The city is behind McKay. The large church has a statue of Leif Erickson - who founded America of course - in the front of it. This picture was taken on top of the big geothermal plant in the city, called the Pearl.
This was taken the first night we got there. It was rainy, however really beautiful. We stayed in a place right in the center of the city, about a 5 minute walk to the ocean shore.
McKay's ancestor performed the last execution in Iceland. Ask me about the story someday, its fun. Anyway, the ax that cut the heads of the executed off is in the National Museum. We snuck a few pictures.
We took a tour outside of the city one of the days. This is one of the several gigantic waterfalls in Iceland.
Our hotel was right on the main shopping street in the city. Yeah for me.
While at the Westman Island (home of the cute puffin bird) we had lunch. Mckay ate puffin meat prepared in two different ways. This was smoked. It was so disgusting. One of McKay's goals he wanted to accomplish in Iceland was to eat the delicacies. This was one of them.
We met the President of Icleand (Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson ). We also had a personal tour of his home. It was kind of crazy. In a good way.
More delicacy food. On the very left is dried haddock, rotten shark meat - with the flag -, sheep balls at the top (on the right of the egg), next to that blood pudding, and I don't remember the other nasty stuff. McKay also ate whale meat that night as well. He achieved all his eating goals by the end of the trip.
